He looked into space as he spoke. "I was found on a tramp steamer off the coast of Jakarta with nothing in my pocket but 50 cents and a dream." Jim Berardone was indeed a humble, sensitive man.
"And you realized that dream, Jim," we said. "You created a little 'Silicon Valley' right here in Pittsburgh, where diverse organizations can come together and share their resources, their information, their insights. A place where one success could lead to another..."
Jim interrupted and told us we were too kind in our analysis. Then came the bombshell - "I want to take Pittsburgh Product Strategy Network, well, national!"
"National! Wow, Jim!" "Is that being too pushy?" "We'll work on it."
The following week, our presentation unfolded. Step one: drop Pittsburgh from the name. (A tear of joy appeared in the corner of Jim's eye). Step two: The tagline. "Profit from the experience." (His glasses fogged up). And finally: The logo. Oh that beautifully conceived logo. Shunning clichZs, Fitting Group opened a whole new world for Jim's second dream. "A secret room from which emanated the light of knowledge."
"The light of knowledge." sobbed Jim. "The light of knowledge." echoed the group. "Tissue?" Jim blew his nose. We blew his mind.
